In 1968, Akashi City and Vallejo City (California) concluded a sister city agreement. Various exchanges have taken place between the two cities.
In the late Edo period, the Kanrin Maru, commanded by Kaishu Katsu, stopped by Vallejo's naval shipyard for repairs, so Vallejo has a strong connection with Japan.
In 2019, a group of us introduced the tea ceremony at the ceremony and played a part in the Japanese cultural exchange. After the introduction of the tea ceremony, tea and sweets were served to the attendees.
