Last year, on November 19, 2019, 15 of us from our Shachu participated in the Urasenke Sotan Memorial Ceremony in Kyoto. It was like a school trip for us. We will meet at the site (Kyoto) on November 17.
On November 18, we started the day with a vegetarian Kaiseki dinner at Ikyu in front of Daitokuji Temple.
Then we will visit Daitokuji Temple and Juko-in Temple. We visited the graves of Sen Rikyu and other Sen family members.
We were also able to visit Daitokuji Yellow Plum Temple.
After the visit to Daitokuji, we went to the hotel to change our clothes and visited Maizuru Obiya.
We were very impressed with the young people who were carefully and painstakingly making the obi. Photo attached
At Maizuru, I listened to a talk about the history of obi and thought that would be the end of it.
But then they made me wear a kimono fabric made by an obi shop, and I finally had to buy one. I was finally forced to buy one.
I finally had to buy one. They bought and bought! But it was fun. The people who bought them were buying them as a reward for themselves.
And those who didn't, they were still learning. Those who didn't buy anything, maybe they haven't practiced enough yet?
After that, we set out for the "Menbaka Ichidai" (Fire Ramen). It was a good time to go.
I was able to get in right away. This was the Fire Ramen that is now being broadcasted to the world on social media. Ramen!!
We were told to meet in front of the Urasenke Kyoan at 8:00 am on the 19th, so we put on our kimonos early in the morning and went.
The first thing we did was to watch the Iemoto perform the tea ceremony in front of us in the Heisei Tea Room. This day I don't have any photos because my cell phone was confiscated for the whole day.
The second was a tea ceremony by the Shigukai and the third was a tea ceremony by the Zabosai Oiemoto's wife.
Here's a shot of what's to come at the Fire Ramen restaurant.
This is how our school trip ended!
