School visit: Synergy School, San Francisco, May 19, 2025

Our group, Tokotoko shachu, visited 4th and 5th grade classes at Synergy School, a private school in San Francisco, and introduced tea and Japanese culture to about 40 students in each class.

First, we gave a 10-minute talk using slides about Japanese culture and the history of tea, and then gave a tea demonstration using a standing shelf.

After that, the students enjoyed the tea with sweets, and at the end, they actually made tea for themselves each other (without adding milk or sugar) and enjoyed the original taste of tea. Finally, they concluded the experience with a greeting in Japanese.
